A bank manager in St Albans is hoping to bring people in the district a little bit closer together after being nominated as a community ambassador.

Andy Robinson has been selected to be an ambassador for the Halifax branch in St Peter’s Street.

The 30-year-old said: "When I moved to the area finding out more about my community and the surrounding areas was very important to me," he said.

"This role provides me an ideal opportunity for me to learn a bit more about the Hertfordshire area, the other branches and a bit more about the local community.

"I was quite surprised to be one of a select few chosen as there are plenty of people in the area who do a lot of things. It’s an honour to be selected and I want to get as involved in it as I can and coordinate as many things as possible."

Halifax has handpicked 70 members of staff from up and down the country who were selected for their love of helping people and wanting to bring about change in their lives.
