A homeless charity in St Albans is asking people to donate decorations, warm clothing and rucksacks over the festive period.

Emmaus St Albans is taking part in the annual Access Self Storage Christmas appeal, which asks people to donate new or nearly new Christmas decorations such as trees, lights, baubles, bells or stockings to the charity to allow them to share with the homeless people they support.

In addition, Emmaus St Albans is asking the community to support the ‘Rucksack Project’ - an initiative to help the homeless by donating a rucksack, a sleeping bag, a flask (to fill with hot soup), spoon, gloves, hat, fleece, underwear, socks and extra food.

Jennifer Hewson, community support manager at Emmaus St. Albans said: "Companions have had terrible experiences that have led to them becoming homeless, so being able to provide them with hope and confidence through the work we do, is really rewarding. Christmas decorations will help our Companions enjoy the Christmas period and celebrate."
