Burns Night celebrations in London Colney helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity as more than 100 people danced to the pipes and accordion at the celebration of the birthday of Robert Burns.

More than £200 was raised for The Peace Hospice, who is dedicated to improving the life for patients and families facing a life limiting illness.

Chair of the parish council, Malcolm MacMillan, who gave the address to the Haggis at the event on Saturday at the Caledon Community Centre, said: “This was a great event for all the community which was sold out three weeks in advance."

Councillors Jacob Quagliozzi and Dreda Gordon read poems and Kirsta Johnston led the singing.

Parish Clerk Irene Casper added, “This was a memorable event which brought people of all ages and nationalities together.”
