The Museum of St Albans is to benefit from an investment of more than £55,000.

The money comes from the Arts Council's Museums Resilience fund, which aims to support the museum sector by helping them become a more sustainable business.

St Albans Museum is one of 108 organisations in England to have been successful in the latest round of the funding, receiving £56,405.

This money will support the museum through it's transitional period. The museum will close it's permanent site in anticipation of a move to a new prominent position in the city centre.

The fund will also be used to find new ways of programming and engaging with new audiences.

Hedley Swain, Area Director, South East, Arts Council England, said: "We are pleased to be able to support the Museum of St Albans and ensure that the museum remain resilient and to create a platform from which they can continue to build."
