The Sainsbury’s store in Harpenden are celebrating after raising £3,575 for Comic Relief.

Staff at the supermarket took part in various fundraising events in the lead up to Red Nose Day, on Friday, March 13.

Activities included putting the store manager in the stocks, and managers having their legs waxed with customers joining in the fun. The store also had staff dressed up as Disney characters and superheroes and locked a manager in a cage for the day.

Jason Merritt, store manager, said: "Our colleagues always go the extra mile for Red Nose Day, and this year was no exception. I’d like to thank all of our customers who donated or took part in the activities we held in store.

"It was a record year for Sainsbury’s and it’s brilliant to know we contributed to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury’s to Comic Relief."

On Red Nose Day, Sainsbury’s announced it had raised £11.5 million for the charity with additional funds yet to be collected.
