Staff and customers at Homebase in St Albans raised £235 in their first ever fundraising day for new charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support.

The money raised by the store in Griffiths Way held the day on Saturday, March 28 is enough to fund eight hours of care from a Macmillan nurse.

Pete Williams, store manager at Homebase in St Albans said: "Everyone in store had fun throughout the day and our customers were really happy to get involved too, so I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who joined in for making the day so successful.

"All of us know of someone who has been affected by cancer in one way or another, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to help fund Macmillan nursing hours so Macmillan can make a difference to more people."

This event is the first partnership fundraising activity to kick off a brand new two year partnership between Homebase and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The partnership aims to raise £3 million over the next two years to fund vital hours of Macmillan nursing care.
