Action is being taken by St Albans City and District Council to improve leisure facilities following a customer survey earlier this year.

The survey on Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre and Harpenden Sports Centre and Swimming Pool was completed by 500 respondents.

It showed generally strong levels of satisfaction with Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre, and lower levels of satisfaction were recorded for Harpenden Sports Centre and Swimming Pool, in particular, with regard to cleanliness and customer service.

The council is now working with the leisure operators managing the sites to improve facilities.

The survey was commissioned by the Local Services Scrutiny Committee’s Leisure Facilities Task and Finish Group, set up last year to look at leisure performance.

The committee agreed the Task and Finish Group should reconvene in the autumn 2015 to review progress at both leisure centres.
