The met office has issued flood warnings near the river in St Albans and Radlett after the heavy downpour earlier today.
Alerts have been given for Upper River Colne and Radlett Brook at Colney Heath in London Colney and Radlett.
The warning on the met office website said that because of the heavy rainfall, rivers are expected to rise, resulting in flooding to "lower lying land, road and gardens next to the river".
They also warned of surface water flooding in some locations across the district.
