"It is this support I think that kept me sane and kept me looking for my dog, without it and without the amount of support I had I think I would have given up."

Through facebook Ms Odell found out that Gordon may have been sold online via Gumtree - users had commented on her facebook page saying they had seen him on the site for around £350.

Ms Odell added: "On Tuesday (August 25) we found out that the microchip company had changed the details on Gordon's chip by the woman requesting it over the phone.

"We managed to get this changed and Gordon's chip flagged as stolen."

On Wednesday, the French Bulldog was handed to a vets in Uxbridge and returned to Ms Odell. He was found allegedly walking the streets.

She said: "We are delighted to have him back where he belongs with his family - I am so happy. And out British bulldog is also glad Gordon's home and is no longer crying.

"I just want to say to dog owners out there to check your chip and the details on there."
