Keen female cyclists are being encouraged to gear up for the festive season by taking part in organised bike rides across the county.
Breeze, an initiative launched by British Cycling to get more women on bikes, is holding a number of ‘Christmas Jingle’ bike rides on December 5.
Rides varying in length and level will take place simultaneously, each beginning from a different location but all finishing at Inn on the Park in St Albans, where all participants will receive a Breeze goodie bag.
Peter Cox, British Cycling’s recreation manager for the central region, said: “Breeze has been so successful and popular in Hertfordshire and we have some really great women helping to encourage others onto their bikes.
“The Christmas Jingle rides on December 5 are sure to be a great celebration of women’s cycling and we are really looking forward to it.”
Trevor Mason, safe and sustainable journeys manager at Hertfordshire County Council added: “We are pleased to support the Breeze programme as it is a great way of promoting sustainable transport.
“It complements the Hertfordshire Cycling initiative which aims to get more people cycling more often for the health benefits and reduced congestion.”
