A number of crimes that took place in our area are still yet to be solved by police. Here are 7 cases that officers are still looking to crack in Watford and surrounding towns.

1. Cassiobury Drive stabbing

Between 7.40pm and 8.15pm on February 24, an 18-year-old was stabbed in the torso as he waited with another man, also 18, at the junction of Peace Drive and Cassiobury Drive.

Seconds before the stabbing, two men got off the blue bike and one of them spoke to one of the victims. He then proceeded to search him and go through his pockets. Nothing was taken, but the same man then stabbed the second victim in the torso before both men left the scene on the motorbike.

Despite detectives in Watford appealing for witnesses and information following the terrifying incident, there have so far been no arrests in relation to the case.

2. Balaclava assault in Borehamwood

At around 7.50pm on Saturday, March 2, a man was assaulted in Elstree Way, near BBC’s Elstree Studios, in Borehamwood, by a balaclava-wearing group.

The victim was walking with a friend when a group of people dressed all in black and wearing balaclavas approached him and pushed him to the floor.

The group then reportedly kicked and stamped on him, although he didn’t suffer any injuries from the attack.

No progress has been made with the case, with a Herts police spokesperson saying: "At this time, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted and no suspect has been identified. Should any new investigative opportunities become available, they will be acted upon accordingly."

Herts Police were called to the scene at 1.27pm on Tuesday March 5 as the damage to garden wall of a Farraline Road home, facing onto Merton Road/A4178, was reported.

A car had apparently "rolled from the back of a trailer and hit the wall", leaving a huge hole, before the driver loaded the car back onto the trailer and drove away.

No breakthrough has been made by police.

4.  Dog bite in London Colney

Between 4pm and 4.30pm on Friday, March 15, a man was riding his scooter along Reed Close when he was approached by another man with a dog off its lead.

The animal then bit the victim on his arm and cheek, leading to him requiring hospital treatment.

Police have no update on the case at this time.

5.  Delivery driver attacked in Bushey

At 6.50pm on March 21, a delivery driver was attacked by two men armed with weapons in Chiltern Avenue, Bushey.

The victim, a man in his 30s, received "acute bodily harm injuries" and was taken to hospital following the assault.

Police believe the men are known to each other, and the investigation remains ongoing.

6.  Knifeman in Watford

On March 23, reports of a man being chased with a knife in Watford town centre sparked armed police patrols.

A member of security staff at a Market Street business, who did not want to be named, told the Watford Observer that a man had burst into the venue, shouting and scaring customers.

He escorted the man outside, without realising there was someone waiting for him with a weapon.

“I think the guy who ran in thought there were people in there so he thought he would be safe because the other guy was trying to stab him,” the 49-year-old said.

“But he was shouting abuse, we didn’t know what was going on, I didn’t know there was another guy.

“When I did see it, I reacted and chased him.”

After telling bystanders to get inside, he ran after both men towards Exchange Road. At the traffic lights the armed man apparently gave up the chase and split off to go in a different direction to his target and lose his own pursuer, which he did.

“I think he would have stabbed the victim. I don’t know if my chasing made a difference or not, you don’t know do you,” the security worker said.

Regarding the incident, police have said that there is no further update at this time.

Gavin Rickett, 54, had moved the appliance outside his front door while his kitchen was being renovated.

Around two weeks prior to the theft, the same two men approached Gavin, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, to ask if they could take it for scrap metal and he refused.

"All lines of inquiry have now been exhausted but any new information that comes to light will be acted on accordingly," Herts police said regarding the incident.
