London Colney suffered a third consecutive defeat after losing 1-0 at home to rivals Colney Heath in the South Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.

The Blueboys were put under early pressure and goalkeeper Jack Smith was forced to make several saves including a superb stop from Josh Bronti’s strike.

For the Magpies, Jamie Eames had two good shots saved by Smith and at the other end Jack Woods fired wide. Visiting captain Jay Welsh nearly opened the scoring after the restart but his low free-kick was cleared off the line by Spencer Clarke-Mardel.

The Blueboys were denied the opening goal when Danny Fitzgerald’s strike was parried by Tom Blackman. The keeper also saved Mark Ridgeway's strike as the hosts were left frustrated.

The Magpies took the lead after 76 minutes against the run of play when Levi Gunn released Courtney Lawrence and he fired his effort past Smith.

London Colney's disappointment increased late on when Greg Shaw received a second booking for kicking the ball away.

London Colney Reserves won 8-2 at Lesford in the Herts Intermediate Cup.

Archie McClelland scored a hat-trick while Ronnie Blagden (2), Yasir Rashid (2) and Simon Beazley completed scoring.

London Colney Blues lost to JC Utd 3-1 in the West Herts Senior Cup with Jack Nevin on target.

London Colney Blues Reserves defeated Langleybury 4-0 in the Stanley Rous Cup with Connor McGrath scoring a hat-trick and a fourth from James Corley.
