St Albans edged to a three-wicket win over Watford Town in Herts Division Two A on Saturday.

The side remain bottom despite the victory but kept their outside hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Watford Town chose to bat first after winning the toss and scored 192 all out in 49.1 overs.

Daniel Rosson was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of three for 11 from eight overs. Henry Tyler took two for 30 and Robbie Goddard claimed two for 40.

In reply, St Albans reached the target for the loss of seven wickets in 48.1 overs.

The openers struggled with their form but Matt Howeson hit 45 and 44 from Sam Kindlen steered them towards victory.

An unbeaten 26 from Phil Caley sealed the points to keep their survival bid alive.

Harpenden crashed to a 231-run defeat to Bishop’s Stortford in the Premier Division.

Batting first, Bishop’s Stortford were in ruthless form as they scored 350 for five from their innings. Harp toiled in the field with Will Jones taking one for 38.

Harpenden’s batting reply was dismal as they were dismissed for just 119. Ben Frazer opened with 16 and Daniel Blacktopp top-scored on 45 for the beaten team in their one-sided encounter.

Harpenden Seconds defeated Bushey by 32 runs in Division Two B.

Harp scored 207 for seven and their opponents were dismissed for 175 in 45.1 overs.
