London Colney moved four points clear at the top of the South Midlands Premier Division after a 4-1 win at St Margaretsbury on Saturday.

The Blueboys again got off to a fast start and opened the scoring when Jon Clements' strike was blocked by goalkeeper Luke Pierce and the ball was only cleared as far as Stef Geraldes who fired a deflected shot into the net.

London Colney were in charge and peppered the goal with shots, efforts from Greg Shaw and Danny Fitzgerald being kept out by the hosts' keeper.

The second goal was worth the wait though as Shaw headed the ball on for Tom Smith to hit a spectacular overhead kick which flew in off the post.

The home side were struggling to live with their opponents and it was no surprise when the third goal arrived soon afterwards. Lee Close sent in a superb delivery and Russell Gallagher pounced at the far post to head home.

St Margaretsbury scored a consolation goal when Chris Webb lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Charlie May.

But the Blueboys completed the scoring with their fourth goal when Fitzgerald was fouled in the area by Pierce and Shaw converted the penalty for the rampant league leaders.

The Blueboys Reserves won 1-0 away at Baldock in the Herts Intermediate Cup with a goal from Dan Burrows.

The London Colney Blues beat JS Utd 5-3 in a cup match with two goals from Johnny Armitt, Tim Fretter, Chris Griffin and Matt Drinkall.

Meanwhile their Reserve team drew 2-2 with Potten End with Conor McGrath scoring both of the goals.
