London Colney continued their strong promotion push as they picked up another three points with a battling performance against ten-man St Margaretsbury.
Their 2-0 victory was secured by goals from Lee Armitt, who took his tally for the season to 22, and Jack Woods, who added to his catalogue of cracking strikes.
The win leaves them one point shy of second-placed Hoddesdon, over whom they have two games in hand, and 12 short of virtually uncatchable South Midlands Premier league leaders AFC Dunstable.
The Blueboys took the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Charlie Smith whipped over a free-kick to the near post where Armitt got the deftest of touches to direct the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
Saints were given the chance to square things up at the start of the second half when they were awarded a penalty but Lawrence Rispol blasted his spot-kick over the bar.
Jordan Gill’s challenge on Danny Fitzgerald earned him a second yellow card and London Colney made their numerical advantage count when Fitzgerald played in Woods for the second goal.
