Harpenden Town had a stonking 8-0 victory over Hadley Wood and Wingate at Rothamsted Park on Saturday.

Both Harry Hunt and Charlie Gould, partnering the the top scorer up front for the first time, scored hat-tricks in the rout.

The win and 2-1 victory over Broadfields United last week lifted Harps from the bottom of the table to 13th in South Midlands Division One.

Manager Danny Plumb said:"It was a good result, things are at last beginning to fall into place.

"We had a slow start to the season due to availability, so hopefully that is behind us and we can put a run together."

Tom Collin scored the first after his header hit the crossbar and he hit the knock back into the net.

The fourth came from Stan James who broke into the area and shot across the goal to beat the keeper in the corner.

The rest came from a brilliant display from Hunt and Gould.

Hunt knocked in a rebound from his own volley and Gould tapped in a pull back to go in three up at half time.

The last four went to Gould and Hunt which will have manager Plumb delighted with his new strike pairing.

Now an on fire Harpenden face Spartan leaders Risborough Rangers on Saturday at Rothamsted Park.
